World-Wide Knowledge to Help You

Grant grew up on the banks of a trout-filled creek in deepwoods Vermont hunting, hiking, fishing and exploring greater northeast Appalachia all summer when he wasn't working on a local dairy farm up the road. A stone monument of his great grandmother's brother who died in WWI stands in front of a small church in the center of his hometown, the sleepy old world, single stop sign new england village of Cuttingsville, VT. Two of his grandparents served in WWII and Grant grew up putting flags on graves of many of his ancestors every year at the local small town cemetary.

A multi time state wrestling champion, Grant eventually attended Phillips Exeter Academy in southern New Hampshire as a football and wrestling recruit where he was MVP of the wrestling team, won the New England Championships and placed 3rd at the national championships. After graduating from Exeter, Grant served a two year LDS mission in Budapest, Hungary before attending the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where he majored in poli sci, minored in Russian and Spanish, lettered in wrestling, traveled the world with the Naval Academy Men's Chorus, and was finally commissioned a naval officer upon graduation. Two of Grant's brothers and his sister also attended the Naval Academy making national headlines when 4 siblings were attending a serviuce academy at the same time. The code of others before self and service was strong in the Whitmer home.

Starting out as a surface warfare officer in the US Navy in charge of running 650psi steam plants underway on amphibious dock landing ships putting Marines on beaches around the world, Grant eventually tried out for and made the All Navy Wrestling team where he eventually became an All Armed Forces Champion and then trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO before placing 5th at the 2004 Athens Olympic Team Trials in greco-roman wrestling. Grant later became the operations officer of Mobile Security Squadron 3 and was responsible for the safe operation of all government equipment and maintenance defending the two Iraqi oil rig platforms ABBOT and KAAOT that 97% of Iraq's GNP flows through.

Grant's naval career culminated when he was the first in his Annapolis class to be given a ship, the MSV C-Champion, a 220' special forces insertion and extraction vessel based in micronesia that could insert and extract up to four 11 meter RHIB Navy SEAL and SWCC teams. As OIC of CHAMPION Grant was responsible for the tactical transportation of US and foreign elite special forces commando units in littoral and open ocean environments.

After leaving the Navy Grant got into real estate and the mortgage industry and eventually co-founded Clear Mortgage with his former squadmate at Annapolis Bill Sandvig.

Grant enjoys anything outdoors, traveling, and moonlighting as a paid actor and performer in numerous musicals including his favorite role as "The Beast" in Beauty and the Beast three times.

Circling the planet so many times in uniform and living abroad for many years has made Grant a firm believer in the ultimate triumph of freedom and love over all, and that is what Clear Mortgage is all about!

Pre-Approval

The first step in the home buying process is to secure a solid pre-approval letter. This includes pulling credit, verifying income, and making sure you're comfortable with a mortgage payment.

Once you're pre-approved, it's time to start working with your realtor to find a property! We will be on standby during this process to run payment numbers and update pre-approval letters if needed.
